Blessed Despite the Bumps

When you feel like giving up...you're tired, you're worn (and you've barely started!), you're frustrated and ready to throw in the towel...somehow, some way, you find the strength to push through. God sends that one person or brings to mind that one particular verse or a message you need to make it... That's our God!

And that's been me the last week. Just about the time I was second-guessing whether we had really been called to do this (and really second-guessing God, if I'm being honest), God rushed in with His reassurance to let me know we are following Him. Hearing my husband say, "I can't wait to get my girl home" or friends sending sweet messages of encouragement or other moms letting us know we're being covered in prayer has given me the strength to keep pushing ahead. And the reminder that "she's worth it!" God has been so amazing the last couple of weeks. Seriously. We went from having about $800 in a savings account for our adoption to $6,500 (WHAT?!). Yeah. He's a BIG God.

And I thought that meant we were almost to that first mark.

And then we got the "official referral letter" with the actual amounts. And that total is about $16,000.

Ugh...breath in, breath out...

Now, to be fair, the amounts themselves (as far as what they are designated for) have not changed. There's just been confusion from the beginning over which amounts would be due when we submit the contract (and we have been trying to sort out what's due with a couple different people and that's also led to some more confusion). Because we are not waiting for an infact, but are instead pursuing a waiting child, the wording in all of the paperwork has been confusing. It talks about "due when you submit the contract", "due when you accept referral" and "due when you submit the dossier" and for us, we're doing both the "...submit the contract" and "...accept referral" all in one step. (All due at the time we submit the contract - and I'm not too sure the "due when you submit the dossier" won't be coming shortly.)

We were spoiled with our first adoption. Seriously. THOGL was an amazing blessing and they handled almost everything. So we're learning on the fly as to what we're doing. And learning some lessons some the hard way. :) Or maybe just realizing how blessed we were the first time around.

Please continue to pray for our family! Thank you so much for all of your support! We've been so blessed by people we don't even know. Ya'll don't know how much that means to us! :)
