All right, I won't keep you in the dark any more. :) Here's the rest of this story:
...So there I was, looking at this list of waiting kids. And suddenly I stopped on this one child. I opened the link and enlarged the picture. For some reason I couldn't close it.
I immediately thought, there's our...daughter! Wait, what?!
Absolutely beautiful. Breathtakingly beautiful. And so sad. Only 3 years old. And way above my "acceptable age." But there was something about her that struck me. Hubby came up behind me and saw the picture as well. He was awestruck. He asked, "what about her?"
I knew she was in Africa. But didn't know if she was in the Congo or Ethiopia. So, I prayed that if she was the one for us, she would be in the Congo (DRC). I found out just a couple days later she was. And she was still available!
And that's the backstory that has led us to where we are now. :) This was totally unexpected. But then adoption in general was, too. And although it was unexpected to us, God knew. I didn't want another girl yet, and I for sure didn't think I was ready for a toddler. But just as God prepared this "storm" for us, He's also there going through it with us. He will equip us. He will give us the strength.
Please pray for us. Pray for our daughter waiting for us in the Congo, for protection, for her little heart to be open to us from the moment we meet her. We're scared. Nervous. And we need to learn some basic Swahili. :)
And we learned today that we will have 2 weeks to sign the contract and send in about $12,000. :) No biggie for our BIG God. :)

I highly recommend Toddler Adoption. It was required by our agency, and I even gave it to my husband to read chapters 6-8. Very good book. :)
Praying for you as you raise funds and embark on this journey!
